Hi Gargi. Good to hear from you. It sounds like you’re already making the right choices.

I don’t have any good answers for your questions but the following was a welcome surprise and seems like a step in the right direction: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/19/the-ceos-of-nearly-two-hundred-companies-say-shareholder-value-is-no-longer-their-main-objective.html.

But it will take more than a such a statement from the top to change things. Note that the problem we’re talking about seems to exist only in the US. I have many friends living in various countries in Europe and none of them complain about similar issues. They seem to have plenty of time for family, play, and relaxation, as well as work. Of course, this is also supported by their governments and companies.

It’s not just that US companies and markets prioritize profits and “achievements” above everything else. We, the people, have also bought into this culture and that mentality is really what needs to change.
